The concentration risk
For many international businesses, one banking relationship handles customer receipts, supplier payments, payroll and currency conversion. If that relationship is interrupted, the disruption can reach every part of the business at once, and it rarely arrives with notice.
02
Four reasons to diversify
- 01De-risking. Banks may restrict or exit relationships with certain sectors, including cryptoasset businesses, gaming, foreign exchange and money services, according to their own risk appetite.
- 02Divergent regulatory expectations. Requirements for onboarding, documentation and ongoing monitoring differ between jurisdictions. A provider that suits one market may not suit another.
- 03Different providers, different capabilities. Electronic money institutions and payment service providers often support different currencies, corridors and payment rails from traditional banks. A broader provider mix widens the options available.
- 04Currency and settlement volatility. Exchange rates, settlement timings and correspondent arrangements can change quickly. Access to more than one route gives a business room to respond.

What multi-banking can and cannot do
A multi-banking structure is not a substitute for sound treasury management, and it does not remove the need for due diligence on each provider. Depending on the business and the providers involved, it can support more competitive FX pricing, offer alternative payment routes and reduce dependence on any single counterparty.

Our approach
Multibanx works with businesses and financial institutions to identify providers suited to their currencies, jurisdictions and operating requirements. Every opening depends on the provider's own due diligence and approval.
